Artist's Description
Driving the loop from Taos toward Angel Fire. On to Eagle's Nest, Red River, then a stop for fuel in Cuesta, New Mexico. Rolling out of Cuesta toward Taos once again as a storm in the distance informs us what to expect. It was accurate information.
Waiting for Rosemary getting some ice at the last mom & pop out of town, I had walked out to the edge of the 2-lane blacktop and was swooned by my good luck chasing the clouds.
Composing the shot, I could hear Jackson Browne's voice from his 1977 Running On Empty album:
"Rolling down 295 out of Portland, Maine
Still high from the people up there, feeling no pain
Gonna make it to New Jersey, gonna set it up and do it again..."
About Joe Schofield

As a kid I was fascinated with photographs. Look. Life magazine. National Geographic. That well-captured interplay of light and shadow...the notion of people, places and moments - all suspended in time. My first "real" camera was a Minolta Srt101. I was seduced. As a teenager, I learned to develop film while working at Wyle Laboratories in El Segundo. I still recall the smell of the developer, my eyes adjusting to the red filter light, and the sheer magic and delight of watching images begin to emerge. Life, family and a career as a teacher and psychologist intervened, not to mention a few more film cameras. Eventually, there was digital. Liberation!
