Something about black and white helps to convey the vastness that is Death Valley. In the foreground are the Mesquite Dunes and beyond, the Funeral Mountains, and the Grapevine Range. As a matter of conveying the expanse, and with the use of magnification, a solo hiker with a white cap and black shorts can be seen in the dunes, at lower left.
