Artist's Description
Hermosa Beach Pier, days before Christmas. Winter is upon us.
The Hermosa Beach pier is located in the Southern California community of Hermosa Beach. It extends into the Pacific Ocean.
In 1904 the first pier was built. It was constructed entirely of wood even to the pilings and it extended five hundred feet out into the ocean. The pier was constructed by the Hermosa Beach Land and Water Company. In 1913 this old pier was partly washed away and later torn down and a new one built to replace it. Photography is the creative medium that has allowed me to share personal ...

The many different scenes of water is what catches my eye here. The stillness where just a bit of pier is reflected, then water receding to the oncoming water and then to the waves splashing upwards. And finally the solitary figure taking it all in.
Joe Schofield replied:
As ever, thanks so much for the meaningful comment Jim!
