Yeah. There is such a thing. These yellowish spikes with the glistening rain drops are at the end of an enormous, emerging flowering stalk. The plant has occupied center stage in a planter in front of a bay window at home for 15 years and is now sending up its first bloom.
Dasylirion longissimum is a stiff, spineless, olive green, grass-like foliage flows from the center of this perfect evergreen specimen for warm, arid xeriscapes. Remove old foliage to reveal an attractive single trunk. In time, it will produce a single, magnificent, tall white bloom stalk. A captivating feature in raised planters and large containers.
