Los Angeles. Love it or hate it, your call.
This sepia shot was taken from the Baldwin Hills Overlook on New Year's Eve day, 12/31/21. After nearly a week of a long needed steady rain, I anticipated getting a good shot of the San Gabriel Mountains covered in snow. A wee bit was seen, but the remaining clouds obscured the rare stunning beauty of the city framed with a load of fresh snow on the San Gabriel mountains.
Though the image was crisp, colorful and clear, there are reams of them on Pinterest. Thought I’d try and convey the peculiarity that is Los Angeles.
Regardless, here's the L.A. anthem you may well have heard at least once:
“… (first verse omitted 🙄) Rollin' down, Imperial Highway
Big nasty redhead at my side
Santa Ana wind blowin' hot from the north
And we was born to ride
Roll down the window, put down the top
Crank up the Beach Boys, baby
Don't let the music stop
We're gonna ride it till we just can't ride it no more
From the South Bay to the Valley
From the West Side to the East Side
Everybody's very happy
'Cause the sun is shining all the time
Look like another perfect day
I love L.A. (We love it)
I love L.A. (We love it)
Look at that mountain
Look at those trees
Look at that bum over there, man
He's down on his knees
Look at these women
Ain't nothin' like 'em nowhere
Century Boulevard (We love it)
Victory Boulevard (We love it)
Santa Monica Boulevard (We love it)
Sixth Street (We love it, we love it)
I love L.A.
I love L.A.
(We love it)" Randy Newman 1983

Revisiting...It would probably be inappropriate, moodwise, to say "Driving down your freeways Midnight alleys roam Cops in cars, the topless bars Never saw a woman so alone So alone, so alone, so alone Motel money murder-madness Let's change the mood from glad to sadness."

! Great minds think alike, Paul. I was going over Jim's lyrics first when I decided on Randy instead !

Wonderful presentation of LA! I had not heard that Randy Newman song, but I will have to look it up.
