Description
"People see all sorts of things in the ink-blot pictures, now tell me what you see, what it might be for you, what it makes you think of."
Rorschach diagnostic plates, #10, or X.
This plate is from the complete diagnostic Rorschach set entitled "Psychodiagnostik Psychodiagnostic Taflin - Plates" printed in 1954, a gift from my late mentor Dr. Gerald Johnson, Ph.D at his retirement in 1991. "Dr. J" was a brilliant, kind and unassuming colleague who excelled in the art of interpreting the arcane language of our profession and keeping it simple. Oh …and Jerry was a fine photographer to boot! Thank you Dr. J. ❤️
If nothing else, check this out as a tote bag !
According to John Exner (1993), Hermann Rorschach first published the 10 inkblots in 1921 as a monograph, Psychodiagnostik. During the 1940's and 1950's, the Rorschach was the test of choice in clinical psychology. It fell into disfavor as many clinicians began criticizing it as "subjective" and "projective" in nature. Ironically, this was never the intention of Rorschach.
While working in a psychiatric hospital with adolescents, he noticed that certain children gave characteristically different answers to a popular game known as blotto (Klecksographie).
In his original publication he characterized the blots as a "Form Interpretation Test", and cautioned that his findings were preliminary and stressed the importance of much more experimentation" (Exner, 1993, p. 6). Sadly, Rorschach died in 1922 at the age of 37. He had only invested just under four years in the inkblot test.
With no clear clinicians to take the helm, at least four separate "systems" developed to administer, score, and interpret the test. Questions and concerns regarding the test's reliability and validity were eventually brought into question.

Love it! My favourite pub in city of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, bears the name "Rorschach Card". So there are... Rorschach Cards on the wall. What you see before and after the first round are two completely different things... :)

Perfect ! I could not have asked for a better comment than that, Yavor. Most amusing !
