Description
A black and white depicting a vast and remote location in Death Valley known as The Racetrack playa. This ancient dry lake bed is known for its mysterious "sliding rocks" that leave trails in the lakebed. The Nelson Range to the right, and beyond to the Inyos act as a rain curtain, leaving the location extremely dry. On rare occasion the playa will receive rain, and when it does the fine dust and minerals of the lakebed becomes very slick. Accompanying high winds are known to push stones of significant size across some distance on the slick surface.
