слава України !
The blooming, the bloomed, the spent, the lost. The remembered. 🇺🇦
The common poppy (Papaver rhoeas), also known as the Flanders poppy, this species grew wild on World War I battlefields, becoming a symbol of the war thanks to its mention in the famous poem "In Flanders Fields." Citizens of the United Kingdom don this bright orange-red bloom to honor Remembrance Day each November 11.
These guys pop up in droves every spring in my front yard. This year they became more poignant as the mindless hammer of war is again wielded by little “men”.
In Flanders Fields
In Flanders Fields, the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Nice photo, and I second the sentiment behind it. Though Remembrance Day poppies in the UK are not without some controversy.
